Cafes Restaurants

Originally a cafe is an establishment which mainly serves ready coffee or other hot drinks and it shares some of the characters of a bar, and some of the characteristics of a restaurant, but it is different from coffee house. Cafes concentrate on providing coffee and tea as well as light snacks. Many coffee houses in the Middle East, and in West Asian immigrant districts in the Western world, offer shisha (nargile in Turkish and Greek), flavored tobacco smoked through a hookah. Nowadays, many types of dishes are also provided in cafes. Caprese Garlic Bread is not just ordinary garlic bread. This recipe adds mozzarella cheese and herbs to turn it into a complete appetizer. Serve with a glass of chilled Chardonnay. Cutting the loaf of bread in halves makes the bruschetta easy to put together. In Baked Artichoke Toasts, the tangy flavour of the ‘‘chokes along with the sweetness of the cheese makes for an unforgettable first course. Herbed Tomato Chicken Roulades is rolled and then baked and sliced. These handsome roulades bring some substance to a happy-hour spread. The crispness of a German or French Riesling wine will complement the chicken’‘s sweet herb filling. Sherried Mushrooms in CreamCheese Pastry is a delicious mushroom filling, accented with a whisper of sherry and then wrapped in a warm savory pastry, makes for an ideal appetizer. Avocado Mousse Pizza with Roasted Peppers is slightly tangy with the warmth of roasted peppers, and this unusual pizza is a crowd pleaser. Apple Cheddar Bread is another important dish. Even though there is some sugar in this quick, non-yeast bread, the tart apple and the cheddar cheese make it a delicious savoury that is suitable to serve as a side dish with salads or any light entree. The bread also tastes great with some (homemade or purchased) happy-hour dips and spreads. Dry champagne with a primarily fruity apple flavour is a great match with this bread. Roasted Olive Salad with Fennel and Orange is a dish of olives, a loaf of bread, a wheel of cheese, and rounds of cured meats become a meal shared by eager workmates, anxious to unwind with others and have something light to eat. In Bistro Steak Salad, cubed avocado is bathed in a lime dressing that’‘s spiked with mustard seeds and ground coriander. Cubes of yellow bell pepper and tomato brighten the salad and add nice contrasting textures. Oil is used from a jar of sun-dried tomatoes because of the added intense flavour. In Cape Malay Lamb Meatloaf, ground lamb rather than beef, pork, or veal – baked with a mixture of South African spices and custard running through the meatloaf – makes a terrific café entree. The Institute of Culinary Arts in Stellenbosch, South Africa, developed the basic recipe, which includes a few of our own DuPont test-kitchen variations here. The custard in the meatloaf yields a much less-firm meatloaf than the American diner version. Breaded Artichokes, is the best dish if people are looking for a very different and extra-special side dish. These marinated artichokes look impressive and taste delicious, and join right in with the café cuisine theme of light, simple, and entertaining. Sunflower Meringues with Lemon Sauce is enriched with flaxseeds and these sweet cookies are lightweight, fun to serve, and add a touch of healthy crunch to any tea-time break. Café Eggs is preferred by a lot of restaurants because this dish is the most popular one around the world. When poached eggs are made, if the water is boiling too briskly, the egg may toughen or break; and if it’‘s boiling too low, the egg won’‘t hold together. It goes well with a steaming cup of English tea. Glazed Orange Pecan Loaf contains sweet zesty marmalade that gives this unusual quick bread both flavour and texture. It takes the place of the sugar found in most quick bread recipes. As with all homemade breads, let this one cool on a wire rack before slicing. Brew a teapot full of black tea to go along with the sweet bread. Cappuccino Bread Pudding is better than a morning cup of coffee or an afternoon latte. This pudding is the preferred coffee and sweet all rolled into one. Some quality prepared caramel or chocolate sauce can be added if serving this as more of a dessert than a café-time break. Olive Oil Lemon Tea Cake is a mellow tea flavoured with almonds and hazelnuts. It complements this Mediterranean-inspired afternoon cake, and so would a dark rich demitasse cup of espresso, depending on peoples mood. The mascarpone cheese is a must with this sweet. As the English have their clotted cream, so the Italians have their mascarpone. Linzertorte Cake is a delightful, cookie-like cake which is delicious with a glass of ruby port. It is named after a city in Upper Austria called Linz, where it originated. Simple orange pekoe black tea would also complement the spicy flavour of the cake. Frosted Raspberry Almond Scones is the best raspberry and preferred all over the world. some lemon juice can be added instead of water if people want to choose the icing or almost any other desired flavour to the sugar. People can also bake these tea cakes in a sectioned scone pan coated with DuPont non-stick coating, meant just for making scones. A full pot of Earl Grey tea is the traditional way to go when serving them. Glazed Chocolate Mint-Filled Brownies are very special and these brownies can serve people well as a daily treat for whoever comes home from work, school, or play – or just in case company drops by. A cut above the everyday brownie, these sweets brighten the palate and add a little aromatherapy for the nose – thanks to the minted icing. Ice cold milk or a warm, simple latte will complete the snack. Spice Cake with Chocolate Frosting is also another important dish of cafes. A hunk of this cake and a thermal cup of coffee go hand in hand. It is obvious that most people around the world prefer cafe dishes.
